Nu weer onderstaand bericht...

Bestaat er wel serieuze journalistiek in de VS? En hoe zit dat hier? Is een breedgedragen bemensde Marsmissie alleen voer voor journalisten als Koppeschaar, Schilling, Van Calmthout...? Of heeft zo'n programma meer raakvlakken dan alleen wetenschap? Hoe ik erover denk is duidelijk. Ik wil alleen niet dat de queeste voor Mars de nieuwste politieke afleiding wordt. Van de WTO bijvoorbeeld, of het defense shield.

Denk erover na; wat Mars -- en wat het dan ook is: planten of een officieel aangekondigde bemensde missie -- voor een impact zal hebben op de world today. Meer weten? Ik kan de geinteresseerde journalist zo naar de Nederlandse opinieleiders leiden.

Bush To Announce New Mars Program In July?

May 23 - Rumors are circulating in Washington DC and among the space
enthusiast community that U.S. President George W. Bush will announce a new
Mars program this summer. Rumors have the announcement of a new initiative
to send Humans to Mars coming on July 20th, a date which has special
significance, as it was the first time a probe sucessfully landed on Mars in
1976. (Viking 1)

Remember that Bush's father tried to launch an expanded program of the human
exploration of space back in 1989, but that initiative was eventually killed
in Congress due to unreasonable cost estimates.
