"Power of Codes: Space of Speech" is a site-specific project by
Duesseldorf-based artist Mischa Kuball for the Tokyo National Museum.
This is the first contemporary art project in 127-year history of the
oldest museum of Japan.

Mischa Kubal has been working with the social, historical context of the
city and the architecture, architectural spaces, with the notion of
"project" "projection" and "reflection" "reflexion" by using lights from
slides, video projectors and/or lights. His projects include Bauhaus
Dessau, Haus Wittgenstein, Mannesmann Building(Duesseldorf).

The project will be held in the first room of the main building of
"teikan-style," the unique architecture to show the fusion of western
and japanese built in 1932. The upper part of the room of Japanese
poteries would add the immaterial layer of the alphabetical codes by
rotating 6 slide projectors, changing the combinaton(and the whole
space) time by time.

Material - immaterial, east - west, tradition - contemporary, and the
visual codes ofof potery - the alphabetical codes would confront
peacefully in the space, and the visitors would be invited to be in the
"space of speech."
