What does it mean being albanians? it means not having the possibility to
go out the borders of your country. Means keeping long lines in kind of
cage risking to loose your job and consequently not having the possibility
for integrating in the european cultural environment after getting free
from the dictatorship albanian artist have to suffer yet the border's
clossing. as it seems we have to suffer the beeing citiziens inside the
borders of Albania. The experience in the German Embassy in Tirana is
something we want to forget as fast as possible.
Imagine after you prepare all the needed documentation and after you have
registrated your name the day before you go in the German Embassy to
present the documentation for visa application after waiting there a long
line in a kind of cage you talk there with an employer and after talking
with her comes the German Consul who intergates you and after she sees all
the documents represented she only asked for a certificate of those who are
employed and let's known to you that at 05.08.99 you can go to the embassy
for getting visas. O.K in this point you think everything is O.K so at
05.08.99 you rapresent yourself to the Embassy and the employer without
paying a lot of attention to you says that you should come once more at
09.08.99 because the visa's procedure hasn't finished yet. Even when you
say that it is to late for the activity getting visas that day it doesn't
helps. You go then after two days and they say again that the visas
procedure hasn't finished and when you ask "why" the consul replyes to us
that she has sended an e- mail in the address indicated on the invitations
, asking who is supporting us economically because they said that this
point is not clear in the invitations and nobody has resposed to the e-
mail.In that point the only thing we could do was retiring our passports
from the embassy.
This was our "unsuccessful experience" with the German Embassy.
We are really sorry missing to the "border camp 99" hoping to have another
occasion we thank you for the interest you showed in sending to us the
invitation,
best regards
Rudina!
