   4th International Festival for Architecture in Video

   New media, cinema and innovation : 
   from Reconstruction to Sustainability

   Florence, 9-12 December 1999



PRESENTATION


The DPMPE of the University of Florence is pleased to announce the 4th
International Festival for Architecture in Video, an event dedicated as in
the previous years to everyone who is involved in the study, design, and
communication of architecture. The aim of the Festival is to encourage the
development of meaningful works exploring the relationship between
architecture and new means of communication, with special regards to the
digital media. 

The International Festival for Architecture in Video represents one of the
main shows dedicated to the documentation and communication of architecture
in film, works in video and animation, to the presentation of designs and
documentary film and technical information destined to the designer,
critics, and students of architecture.



HOW TO ATTEND TO THE FESTIVAL


The University of Florence, DPMPE invite you to attend to the 4th edition
of the International Festival for Architecture in Video.

The attendance is open to authors and/or producers - designers, students,
researchers in architecture, builders , distributors of products and
systems for the building branch - of videos and digital media regarding
projects or architectural realisations, researches and studies about the
contemporary city and its architecture; they can also concern the process
of production, the materials and components of building trade.

We welcome works whose content is related to recent projects, realisations
and researches, divided according to the following categories:

· videos and films about architecture: works dedicated to the presentation,
analysis and documentation of architecture;
· videos by students: works realised by Italian and foreign students in
architecture;
· video by Architects: works realised by or for professionals or
professional studies of architecture;
· videos about industry: technical documentaries and promotional videos
concerning the production process, products and innovating building systems;
· digital media: works in CD Rom or Internet dedicated to architecture.

Special attention will be paid to all the material concerning the central
theme of the Festival - the development of architecture and of the building
branch in Europe from its recent past to nowadays, from the Reconstruction
(the 1950s) to Sustainability ( the 1990s).

As regards the category of the promotional videos, all creators, producers
and distributors of products and systems for the building trade are
invited. This material will be shown in an proper section of the Festival.

The participants have to send their works not later than October, 30th 1999
to the following address:

The attendance is free. All the works must be accompanied by an attendance
paper or digital indicating:

· the category to which the work is participating;
· an introducing passage of the work (2000/3000 strokes around) and the
three images best representing its contents;
· a biographical note about the author or authors;
· a brief technical explanation of the building technologies to be used or
really used in the realisation.

The participants will be selected by a commission formed by technologists,
architects, experts in communication according to the categories described
above. The works selected for the exhibition will be included in the
catalogue of the 4th Festival for Architecture in Video. The material won't
be turned back and will become part of a permanent archive of architecture
in video.
