CELL PRESENTS TUNNELVISION:
5 - 19 SEPTEMBER 1998 MAASTUNNEL ROTTERDAM

CELL - Initiators of Incidents invites you to the opening of TunnelVision
on September the 5th 1998 at 20.00 hours at the Maxim aan de Maas caf© at
the south-entrance of the bicycle-and pedestrian area of the Maastunnel. At
21.30 hours there will be a spectacular display of fireworks in connection
with the Wereldhavenfestival.

MARYANNE AMACHER (USA), BMB CON. (NL), COENEN & BOSMA (NL), IMOGEN
STIDWORTHY (GB/NL), VER LICHT(NL), BEA DE VISSER (NL) AND STEFANIE ZOCHE
(G) developed their work especially for the bicycle- and pedestrian area of
the Maastunnel. The exhibited works range from sound- to fotographic- and
videoinstallations and perfromances. Additionally a Cd-rom ( by Coenen &
Bosma, Tamara Ackermans, Ellen Lepoutre and Yura van Winden), a website (by
D.U.M.B) and a graphic designer project (by 75B) will be presented in
connection with TunnelVision. Besides functioning as information carriers
these are an autonomous part of the project.

The Maastunnel is part of the public space, but nevertheless has, through
its almost closed appearance, an atmosphere of an "intimate" space. This
tense relation between public and private space puts passersby in a state
of alertness. The works that are presented in connection with TunnelVision
refer to this tension between public and private, often pointing to
imaginary spaces generated by the "subconscious", however, they also allow
life outside the tunnel to trickle through. The experience of the works
oscillates continuously from concrete and palpable to imaginary and virtual.

We hope to welcome you to our opening,

Nathalie Houtermans & Antoinette te Paske,
Initiators
