"MOBILE ZONES - Interactions in Urban Spaces"

"Mobile Zones - Interactions in Urban Spaces" is a series of up to 6

the meaning of urban space.

                        virtual communities
                        the city as a metaphor
boundaries of the self: aliases and fictional
                        identities
                        communities, networks and their structures
                        surveillance and control

                        event design
                        transient communities
                        the festival as metaphor

"GLOBAL & INDIGENOUS"

MMF'98 special focus "Global & Indigenous" addresses contemporary issues of
globalization, indigenous culture, power and networked information:

                        social, cultural and economic realities
                        increasing capital and information flow
                        networks outside regulative control
                        dominant techno-optimist ideologies
                        forces structuring globalization
                        occupancy and conditions of access
                        networks in developing countries
access and visibility for indigenous cultures
                        emergence of networked media spaces
                        political activism and civil disobedience
media art relations to TV and film
                        grassroots politics, networks and subcultures
                        contemporary geography of media culture

We look forward to presenting media art that is both innovative and
challenging.
