In response to the general criticism I have received
in Lyon and after Lyon I send you - great performance artists of the world
-  a few remarks and observations i have collected during
Polysonneries,
here it comes:

what I learned in Lyon is the hypocritical
attitude of performance artists
including you who are being critical of
the institutional aspects of performance festivals while you are making your
living through academic institutional work,
for example administration and teaching jobs

you who are being critical of the organizers for working with
government agencies in order to generate funding for your performances
while you would never go to
a festival without getting paid for travel, hotel, food and production costs

you who are being critical of other artists and organizers for spending
too much money on their projects while you
would never do any artistic work without grants or other
forms of financial support or technical assistance

you who are being critical of other artists for doing
their work according to the festival context
while you never ever do anything outside
the context of festivals and only do your artistic work
within the security and safety of organized events

you who give big echoing speeches about the
community based aspect of performance art in relation to the
independence and individual autonomy of performance artists
while you always expect and accept to be served by others
and never clean the breakfast table in the communal kitchen

you veterans of performance art
who talk about the growing community and open situation
of performance art while rejecting the work
of younger generations and unofficial participants who happened
to be in the same event
without your official approval

you who call yourselves non-traditional artists and
introduce yourselves as
freedom fighters against the art system
while you want to have complete organizational control
in order to promote the work of your own little
paranoid club of performance art bureaucracy

you who think of yourselves
as redeeming art-revolutionaries while following
the rules of political correctness approved by
the right wing governments of world wide festival democracy,
including the security guards and director (Santa) Klaus

all power to the machines!
