Kulturhuset is the most visisted cultural space in sweden, with over
3 million visitors every year.
This summer at Kulturhuset in Stockholm it will be a big show
called Money a comment to the new economy.
The show will open the 14 of june and go on to the 8 of august.
Crac will arrange the show and the main funder is Swedish Institute.

Urbonas(Lithuania), Mare Tralla(Estonia), Artur Klinov(Belarussia),
from Moscow the AES group are invited, and from sweden:
Dorinel Marc, J?rgen Svensson, Gunilla Klingberg, Elin Wickstr?m and others.
During the event a serie of events will take place. Discussions and seminars.
It is possibel to arrange a NICE-meeting during the show.
This is the curatorial statement:

What is money?

What does this symbol of trade and power consist of? This simple question is
the point of departure for an extensive discussion on several levels, with an
art exhibition at Kulturhuset in Stockholm as its focal point, 15 June - 8
August 2001. In connection with the art exhibition several seminars, web events
and talks will be arranged on the theme.

Where is the money?

The exhibition hall in Kulturhuset overlooks Stockholm?s commercial centre,
where classical bank palaces and institutions are interspersed with hamburger
chains and IT businesses. The city of Stockholm is one of several nodes in a
new economic region that stretches along ancient trade routes. This is
reflected in the exhibition?s selection of artists from Scandinavia, the
Baltic, Russia, Belarus and the Ukraine.

Everybody?s talking about money!

We are at the beginning of a new millennium, with a new global economy, in an
ever more global culture that defies the borders obstinately maintained by
nations in search of an identity. In this old and new oscillation between the
wish for exchange and the wish for control, the focus is on the symbol of this
phenomenon. Everybody is talking about money. When you go shopping in Belarus
you have to bring a carrier bag full of money, and if you?re lucky it might
still be valid as a means of payment. In Russia money becomes worthless
overnight. In Stockholm we collect pension points on the stock exchange and
manage our lives with little plastic cards. Money is owned by no one, or by
everyone via the state. A state in the process of change, that has not yet
worked out how to charge tax on barter, in the international network-based
economy. A new economy, a new attitude, without any significant competition
from other ideologies. An old and new hope, that fills our dreams with
expectations on future values: Money, loads of money.
