>Charles Esche is a curator and writer based in Edinburgh and Copenhagen. He
is Director of the Rooseum Center for Contemporary Art, Malmö since 2001 and
a research fellow at Edinburgh College of Art where he works with the 'proto
academy', an academic project aimed at discovering more conversational and
effective models for advanced art education. He is also editor of AFTERALL,
an art journal published twice yearly by Central St.Martins College of Art
and Design, London and CalArts, Los Angeles. From 1993-1997 he was Visual
