[Nettime-nl] Dorkbot Eindhoven woensdag 6 april.


PREPARE FOR TAKE OFF!
DORKBOT EINDHOVEN is launching Wednesday April 6th, 20:30, at the 
Gaslab TU/eindhoven.

Around the globe there is a movement of small, autonomous functioning 
organizations with a similar goal: offering 
artists/programmers/engineers/geeks an opportunity for informal peer 
review; establish a forum for the presentation of new art 
works/technology/software/hardware; help establish relationships and 
foster collaboration between people with various backgrounds and 
interests. This movement is called Dorkbot and on April 6th it starts 
in Eindhoven.

PRESENTATIONS/PERFORMANCES (this time they're all in Dutch)

***Koert Mensvoort / http://www.koert.com
Koert Mensvoort is a Dutch multimedia artist and scientist currently 
assistant professor in the Industrial Design Department of the TU/e 
and a teacher at the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam. His main 
interest is investigating the strange and the beautiful. He will be 
presenting Amateurs (a short film), Active Cursor (interactive 
presentation), Drift (internet dancefilm with motion capture 
technique), Bos ruikt naar Shampoo (documentary fragment) & 
Datafountain (short film).

NMN is a not-for-profit organization that has been running Dorkbot 
Ghent in the last years and has been producing a variety digital art 
projects involving sound and/or interactivity for the past 5 years. 
NMN will be talking about Dorkbot Ghent over the years as well as 
presenting some of their projects involving both code and art.

***Danielle Roberts / http://www.numuseum.nl
Danielle Roberts is a new media artist living and working in Breda, 
Netherlands. Originally trained as a sculptor/monument designer she 
has been active in new media since 1998. She most often is creating 
works using photography/scans, video, and text combined with 
programming. She will be presenting numuseum, a project ongoing since 
1998 which houses Danielle's new media works and has become one 
itself. It fuses 3 equal components: the computer, the visitor and 
the artist, which all interact to become part of the whole.

Digital Art Group Maastricht / http://www.digitalartgroup.nl
Berto Aussems is a self-taught new media artist, working in the field 
since 1981. He has has built numerous installations and new media 
works that deal with electronic music and generative animations. He 
was also founding member of the Electronic Art Collective Limburg 
(early '90s) and the Digital Art Group Maastricht (1999). He will be 
showing some pieces from the overview DVD produced by the Digital Art 
Group Maastricht (including the pieces Morface by Andre Dezelak, 
Cubic Transformations by Jos Mulders and Peristaltique by Berto 
Aussems). The screening will be accompanied by an overview of the way 
digital art and the group have developed in South-Limburg in the past 
23 years and a presentation of Berto's own work.

*Dorkbot Eindhoven is an initiative of Art & Technology Festival STRP 
in collaboration with Studium Generale (TU/e).
