DEAF RADIO: online radio art

DEAF RADIO, a DEAF04 collaboration with Radioswap, Radio Tilos and
RadioWORM, is 'etherless radio art', giving daily reports on the festival
with interventions, soundscapes and radio concerts. Zoë Irvine will bring
“Magnetic Migration Music” to Rotterdam, soundscapes based on pieces of
stray audio tapes found all over the world. Listen to DEAF RADIO via this
website, or on the benches in the DEAF04 exhibition space of Van Nelle
Ontwerpfabriek.

Californian band The Hub reunites at DEAF04

For the first time in ten years, the members of the legendary Californian
band The Hub will all be playing together in a unique reunion concert for
DEAF04.

For this special concert they will be supported by The Station - a band
especially formed for this occasion - consisting of several young artists
under the direction of music scholar Golo Foellmer.

This evening also includes Laetitia Sonami, who combines lyrics,
electronic music and found sounds to create performance novels, using
instruments of her own design.

date: Saturday 13 November, 22:30-01:00 hrs
location: Van Nelle Ontwerpfabriek - Tabaksfabriek

TRAMJAM Rotterdam RushHour performance

TRAMJAM uses the nine tram lines between different areas in Rotterdam to
create a musical sound map of the city. On Friday 12 November, the Swiss
performance study group Mumbai Streaming Attack, together with local sound
artists and media art students, will bring a public jam session near metro
station Blaak using pre-recorded, composed and real-time sounds that
reflect the city's open space and mobile living. If you can't make it to
Blaak, go to the website for live streaming!

TRAMJAM Rotterdam RushHour
date: Friday 12 November, 15:00-19:00 hrs
location: Piet Zwart Institute, Overblaak 85 (near metro station Blaak)

The Evening of Marko Peljhan

Marko Peljhan presents an evening of signal strength with Eda Cufer, Brian
Springer, Aljosa Abrahamsberg and Ewen Chardronnet leaning on the
conceptually conspirative ensemble of Velimir Chlebnikov, Kazimir
Malevich, Nikola Tesla, John Cage and Jack Northrop.

This transnational group of nomadic system operators will uplink in
Rotterdam to create a multi-tiered environment comprising electromagnetic
signal processing, transmission, tactical tool creation and political
debate.

Transignal 6: The Evening of Marko Peljhan
date: Friday 12 November, 20:00-22:00 hrs
location: Van Nelle Ontwerpfabriek - Theefabriek
admission: 10 euro / 8 euro reduction

iCinema film projects

iCinema films, a concept by Jeffrey Shaw, are produced especially for
projection on the inside of a sphere and are screened in a nine-meter-high
Dome on the large parking lot of Van Nelle Ontwerpfabriek. Two film
productions are shown: “Perm” by Ulf Langheinrich and “Si Poteris narrare,
licet” by Jean-Michel Bruyère. The iCinema film projects are part of the
DEAF04 exhibition.
