REACTION TO THE ABDUCTION OF TEKI BOKSHI
On December 3, 1999 the attorney of the Humanitarian Law Center branch in
Kosova, Teki BOKSHI, was abducted on the highway between Sremska Mitrovica
and Belgrade in the presence of two colleagues, during their visit to the
Kosovar Albanian prisoners and detainees still being kept in Serbian
prisons. The HLC vehicle was stopped in response to a sign from an
official vehicle with official license plates of the Serbian Ministry of
Interior.
We, the participants in the Conference "Women Activists and Conflict : A
democratic perspective for the Balkans " organized by "Transeuropéennes",
informed of this event by the director of the HLC who had to cancel her
participation at this conference because of this case,
a.. Demand to clarify the case of the human rights lawyer Teki
BOKSHI.
a.. Appeal :
a.. to all relevant public institutions;
b.. to all international human rights agencies;
c.. to the international media ;
to shed light on this recent case, as well as all other cases of illegal
detainees in Serbia.
