<nettime> WEBCAST TODAY: New Dark Age: Technology and the End of the Future – NYC Book Event

Is the Internet half-empty or half-full? Tune in tonight!

livestreamToday, Thursday October 4 2018, at 7pm EDT (23:00 UTC) Eyebeam presents a book event – New Dark Age: Technology and the End of the Future. In this new work Eyebeam alum James Bridle offers us a warning against the future in which the contemporary promise of a new technologically assisted Enlightenment may just deliver its opposite: an age of complex uncertainty, predictive algorithms, surveillance, and the hollowing out of empathy. Surveying the history of art, technology and information systems he reveals the dark clouds that gather over discussions of the digital sublime. Today he will speak about the book with current Eyebeam Journalism R&D Resident, Ingrid Burrington. The event will be webcast live on the Internet Society Livestream Channel and YouTube.
