Where are your Armani frames? I can't find them on the website.
It is true that LensCrafters does not display Armani on our website -- however, Armani is creating their own site that will have all sorts of information and styles. Visit a local LensCrafters, and a Frame Stylist will be happy to find the Armani frame for you. LensCrafters has one of the largest selections of Giorgio Armani and Armani Emporio eyewear available.

I have a heavy prescription and need lighter frames, do you have any?
LensCrafters has two different lenses to offer customers who are interested in lighter and thinner lenses.

  • FeatherWates Lenses are up to 17% thinner and 30% lighter than standard plastic lenses and 10 times more impact resistant.
  • FeatherWates Plus Lenses are up to 20% thinner, 30% lighter than standard plastic. They are also 2 times more scratch resistant, and 10 times more impact resistant. FeatherWates Plus lenses offer the greatest impact resistance available today.
These statistics do vary from prescription to prescription. To find out which lens will offer the greatest benefit to you, stop by your local LensCrafters and talk to a Lens Specialist.

Can I get just frames with no prescription in the lenses?
LensCrafters does sell fashion eyeglasses without a prescription. They are referred to as "plano" lenses. Plano lenses can come with many of the options we carry for prescription lenses such as tints, A/R coating, etc. There is a fee for the plano lenses -- as we cannot sell the frames with the 'plastic' demo lenses. Plastic demo lenses are not refracted for sight, and could actually cause damage to your vision. Check out many of our great fashion collections at a LensCrafters near you.

Do you carry rim-less (frameless) eyeglassses?
LensCrafters does not carry drill mount frames in our stores. We do offer a wide range of nylon rimless (also called semi rimless) frames that offer a similar look as a drill mount (also called rimless). Some LensCrafters Optique stores carry rimless frames.

Should I wear FeatherWates Plus lenses?
FeatherWates Plus lenses are made of polycarbonate, which is a high index material with an index of refraction of 1.59. If your prescription is between a +4 and a -6.00, a FeatherWates Plus lens is a good choice. Outside of that range, you may want to go into a hi-index option. Check with your local LensCrafters store for more specific information.

Why can't I have my current lenses cut down to fit a new frame?
Cutting down lenses to fit in an other frame could alter the prescription and weaken the lens. For this reason we do not recommend this practice.

What's the best way to clean my lenses?
To clean your eyeglasses, use luke warm water, if available, and rinse off glasses. LensCrafters and other retailers sell special eyeglass cleaner and cleaning cloths. Once or twice a month wash your glasses with very warm soapy water, rinse well and dry with a cleaning cloth or lint free cotton towel.

What are MVP progressive lenses? Are they easy to get used to?
MVP (Maximum View Progressives) are a new generation of no-line multifocals that allow you to see more clearly and comfortably than traditional progressives. The MVP lens is designed with larger vision areas to give clearer vision and easier focusing at all distances. MVP lenses provide up to 20% larger viewing areas than conventional progressive lenses. In other words, the areas of clear vision are noticeably larger than other types of progressives. The vision areas on the lenses are located to precisely match the natural movements of your eye, for smoother, faster transitions when shifting focus from near to far. Adjustment to these lenses is typically easier than with other, older designs.

As with any progressive lens, the ease of adaptation is very specific to the customer and his/her sensitivity to "blur". These lenses, however, have softer peripheries than other conventional designs, making them easier for most people to adapt to. The softer periphery results in the viewer noticing less areas of unclear vision, and therefore, larger areas of clear vision.

MVP (Maximum View Progressives) are different than no-line trifocals. They have a 20% larger viewing area than many other progressive lenses. The larger viewing area is achieved by the way the lenses are fitted on the customer.

MVP progressives are easier to adapt to than bifocals (or Trifocals) for 3 reasons:

  • They provide intermediate correction
  • There is no image jump
  • They provide smooth, natural vision.

For complete information on MVP lenses call or stop by your local LensCrafters store.

Do you carry Varilux lenses, or something similar?
Our FeatherWates Plus and Duralens MVP (Maximum View Progressives) are very similar to the Varilux design. They are both manufactured from the same supplier. Our MVP's offer you, the customer, a 20% larger viewing area than other progressive lenses. Contact your local LensCrafters for more information.

Can I buy contact lenses on the website or by mail?
At this time, you can not order contact lenses through our web site. LensCrafters has a Contact Lens By Mail Program, where you can call directly to order lenses. If you are interested, you will need to consult with a LensCrafters doctor’s office near you for enrollment information. To locate the office near you, visit the or call 1-800-541-LENS.

How much do contact lenses cost?
Since the majority of Optometrists’ offices next to LensCrafters are Independent Doctors of Optometry, we are unable to provide you with specific information. The Independent Doctors of Optometry own the contact lens business and set their own prices, which are very competitive with other retail outlets that sell the same products. You will need to contact the Independent Doctor of Optometry for specific price information. Check the store locator for the nearest LensCrafters location.

Do you carry color contact lenses?
Most LensCrafters locations carry color contact lenses. Often times, these are a special order. There are multiple suppliers of prescription contact lenses. These manufacturers also make color contact lenses that are plano (without a prescription). According to law, you must get an exam and contact lens fitting in order to be fit with a free trial pair of color contact lenses from these vendors. Contact your Eye Care Professional or the independent Doctor of Optometry next to LensCrafters. For telephone numbers, see the store locator.

What kind of exams do I need for contact lenses?
A thorough eye exam, as well as a contact lens fitting exam, is required for contact lenses. The contact lens fitting exam takes different eye measurements than a basic eye exam and is necessary to evaluate what type of contact will work best to correct your vision.

    Should I get contact lenses?
Your Eye Care Professional will decide whether contact lenses are a viable option to correct your vision by evaluating your eyes with an eye exam and contact lens fitting exam. The Doctor’s office would screen and test your eyes and then recommend the best contact lens (and solution/cleaning regimen) based upon your eye condition and lifestyle.

Although contact lenses may not be suitable for everyone, they are used to correct many vision problems for the young and old. Many teens do wear them. Consult your eye care professional for full details. See our store locator for the location nearest you.

I'm looking for contact lenses with designs or really radical colors?
Wesley Jessen, one of many contact lens manufacturers, carries a line of contacts called “Wild Eyes” which are eye color changing contacts. You can get the “Wild Eyes” in a plano prescription, which means no prescription. To get more information about “Wild Eyes” please visit Wesley Jessen’s web site at www.wild-eyes.com. If you are interested in purchasing a pair of “Wild Eyes” contacts, you will need to consult your nearest LensCrafters’ Doctor’s office. Check the store locator or call 1-800-541-LENS the nearest location.

Do you carry the brand of contacts that I currently wear?
Since the majority of optometrists offices next to LensCrafters are Independent Doctors of Optometry, we are not able to tell you what is available in each office. The Independent Doctors of Optometry own the contact lens business and make their own determination as to what contact lenses to carry. Most national brands are carried in each office. Please call the location nearest you for specific information.

I have difficulty seeing at night while driving. What do you recommend?
Many people have difficulty driving at night due to reduced visibility and annoying reflections. This problem is often made worse by rain which adds surface reflections. LensCrafters Invisibles® lenses are designed to reduce reflections by absorbing and blocking reflective light. Check the Lenses section of our website. For more information, please visit your local LensCrafters store, where our trained opticians can give you a personalized recommendation.

I'm having a lot of problems seeing my computer? Any solutions?
As more and more people get on line, this is becoming a larger problem. There are 3 different types of lenses you could try:

    • Intermediate single vision lenses. These are like "readers" except designed for intermediate (approximately an arm length) distance instead of near. However, you would still need your bifocal glasses for other activities. Depending on your prescription you may have trouble working with these lenses, because you may not have the power to see paperwork as you use your monitor.
    • Progressive lenses. Unlike your bifocal lens which have near and distance corrections, progressive lenses correct vision for near, intermediate and distance. These lenses can be used for all activities and LensCrafters MVP lenses are much easier to adapt to than previous progressive designs.
    • Computer lens - These lens are crafted with near and intermediate powers enabling the wearer to have correct power for viewing their monitor and desk paperwork. However, you would have to change glasses when you need to see in the distance...for walking around, etc.
Talk with your Eyecare Professional for specific information. Based on your prescription and lifestyle they can assist in recommending the right lens for you.
