[Nettime-bold] Update on 'BBC Confirmation..'

Hello again - and apologies to everybody for the previously knocked out
message conc. 'BBC Confirmation of CNN Footage Fake'.

What happened? The story reached me late this afternoon via the UK
Indymedia newsletter digest. This BBC thing + the added comments seem to
be only available via the Indy newsletter, and have not been published
on any of Indymedia's websites. The link provided inside the newsletter
is dead, which is a little odd and adds to the impression that things
are sort of out of line with Indymedia's usual publishing practice. The
CNN counter statement published a couple of days ago is available on:

http://uk.indymedia.org/display.php3?article_id=11942

The Uk Indymedia collective will hopefully respond to my questions on
that BBC thing, as well as giving an update on some of the troubles with
viruses and strained servers which currently effect Indymedia, SchNews,
Znet and many others.

take care everybody,
stop the rush. roya*

Sorry, I'm writing to express my concern about my eyes.

Can you please not use white letters on black background?

Please...

I ruined my eyes like that, in the years before 1984. When they found
out
green on black was the worst possible combination for reading.

Contrary to this we have confirmation from the BBC that that footage is
not genuine and CNN have used deception.

This is the comment I want to make below.

Why is it daytime in those clips of the Palestinians celebrating the WTC

attacks?
Think about the question before you answer too quick.
Shortly after the attacks, I heard about the celebrating, later that
afternoon I see these clips, and they are in daylight.
Say what you want, but aren't they on the other side of the world?
Instead of challenging someone to prove you wrong, try investigating the

footage from the 90's, and prove to us that they are indeed from
9/11/01.
I think that when chalenged by the media, people will deny their claims
in fear of being exploited.
Fact: The government will not show us what they don't want us to see.
They have been known to create stories to fill in the blanks, or to
manipulate the already weakened state of mind.
SHOW ME THE MONEY!

Dear all,

Last September 13, I've sent an email to this list in which I provided
some information about the falsity of the images of Palestinian
celebration for the terrorism in USA, information given to me by a
teacher. I spent the last day looking for that teacher, and,
unfortunately, when I found her, she DENIED having access to such
images.

She said that she was sure she had seen the images back in 1991, but SHE

CAN'T PROVE. She was not willing to provide further information, DENYING

what she had said before to a full class of students.

I sincerely apologize for this uncertain information; unfortunately I
can't prove the information contained in my last post; IT'S ONLY A
CONJECTURE, THAT THOSE IMAGES OF PALESTINIANS CELEBRATING IS FALSE. I
bought the idea myself, and reproduced it for you because of the
importance of it, in the case it was to be confirmed.

Whatever news I get I'll pass to you.

Best regards

STATEWATCH press release, 20.9.01.

EU PLANS TO COMBAT TERRORISM MAY ALSO COVER PROTESTS

In the wake of the tragic events in the USA the European Commission has
put
forward a proposal for a "Framework Decision on combating terrorism"
which
is being discussed today at the special meeting of EU Justice and Home
Affairs Ministers in Brussels.

An analysis of the proposal would appear to show that the intention is
to
extend the definition of "terrorism" to cover public order situations.

Tony Bunyan, Statewatch editor, comments:

"The response of the EU to the tragic events in the US needs to be
examined
with great care. The definition of terrorism is very similar in its
scope
to the UK Terrorism Act which is drawn so wide as to endanger legitimate

dissent.

The European Commission proposal on combating terrorism is either very
badly drafted, or there is a deliberate attempt to broaden the concept
of
terrorism to cover protests (such as those in Gothenburg and Genoa) and
what it calls "urban violence" (often seen by local communities as
self-defence). If it is intended to slip in by the back door draconian
measures to control political dissent it will only serve to undermine
the
very freedoms and democracies legislators say they are protecting"

Shut Down the Nazi Charity Shop - Day of Action
Saturday 22 September 2001

Assemble 12 noon outside the St Michael's Charity shop, on the Corner of

Elgin Avenue and Shirland Road, London W9

The St Michael's Charity Shop on Shirland road is a front for an Italian

fascist group with links to the Nazis in Britain.

Italian fascist Roberto Fiore was sentenced in 1985 in his absence in
Italy
for being a member of the political wing of a fascist terror group
responsible for planting the Bologna bomb in 1980 which killed 85
people.
Fiore says he is happy to be described as a fascist.

He set up this charity shop with Nick Griffin, Fuhrer of the Nazi
British
National Party. Griffin has a criminal conviction for race hatred and
Holocaust Denial.

Edgar Griffin his father who was recently thrown out of the Conservative

Party for his Nazi connections was the accountant for the charity shops
and
Treasurer of the Trust of St Michael Archangel which runs the Shirland
Road
shop.

The Charity Commission has now frozen the shop's assets and removed its
charitable status.

However it remains open and funds from the shop are used to fund Nazi
activities including the formation of a nationalist village in Spain.

Local campaigns closed down its sister shops in Carlton Vale. We want
to
shut down this shop as well.

Join the Day of Action
