do you mean nation-state vs multicultural?

I think multicultural is more race -community- religious  identity and
nation state is more homogenous but ( simply) more on a governing legal and
commerce / media/ news level. the former has some aspects of the later but
the later has more security / utility and nationalistic elements. I think
they can coexist and can benefit on a national and even, peacefully, on an
international level.
