Gabriel Routhier, an artist from Quebec City, has received his B.F.A. from
Université du Québec à Chicoutimi in 1984. He has presented more than
fifteen solo exhibitions in Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia. He has
taken part in more than sixty group exhibitions, across Quebec and
internationally. He was also awarded several grants, including an A grant
from Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec in 1997. In 1997-98, he
participated in the Salon des Arts Graphiques actuels "Saga" in Paris,
represented by Galerie Madeleine Lacerte in Quebec City.

The artist presents his exhibition in these terms:

I propose large scale woodcuts with collages and chines collés, entitled "
Les Carnets "(1998-2000). The motifs are inspired by elements from the
animal and plant kingdoms, in relation to the body and to landscape. This
series is based on a reflection on the perception of human subjects in
their relation to the universe. These works can be read as memory pages
dissimulating both the fragility and vulnerability of human beings
developed in my earlier series.

All are welcome to the opening on Friday, October 27 at 8:00 pm, at the
Centre de diffusion Presse Papier, 75, rue St-Antoine in Trois-Rivières,
Quebec. The artist will be in attendance. The exhibition will continue
until November 19, 2000.

The gallery is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm.
