April 2007, 18 bis 20 Uhr Ãffnungszeiten: Die Ausstellung ist an den Sonntagen 15., 22. und 29. April von je 14 bis 18 Uhr geÃffnet und an Veranstaltungsabenden ab eine Stunde vor Beginn. TANZ IN SICHT - eine Fotoserie und Klanginstallation von INGO KNIEST (Berlin) Saal Musik: Ki Arpa, Ian Warner & Jens Nordmann LebensgroÃe PortrÃts von TÃnzern werden in einem Raum prÃsentiert, der zusÃtzlich mit Sensoren bestÃckt ist. Diese Sensoren stellen Bewegungen der Besucher im Raum fest und reagieren mit vorprogrammierten Loops als Interaktion mit den Betrachtern. Eine eigens fÃr dieses Projekt entwickelte Software reagiert gleich einem digital-automatisierten Dirigenten und lÃsst Klanggebilde im Raum entstehen. WÃhrend Ingo Kniest mit seinen Fotos die aufgeheizte AtmosphÃre der TanzflÃche in seinen Momentaufnahmen schockgefriert, formen die Besucher innerhalb der Ausstellung ihren eigenen Sound unaufhÃrlich neu. Die Vorzeichen haben sich dagegen verÃndert. Der ekstatische TÃnzer ist still, der betrachtende Besucher bewegt sich. Beide zusammen bilden in der Ausstellung eine einzigartige Symbiose. Ingo Kniest, 1972 in Bremen geboren, studierte am Berliner Lette-Verein Fotografie. Seither lebt er in Berlin und arbeitet als Fotograf. Seine fotografische Arbeit zeichnet sich durch eine enorme Klarheit in der Bildkomposition und einem bemerkenswertem Detailreichtum aus. Eine installative Premiere auch fÃr die 17 Hippies. Dabei ergeben in das Treppenhaus verankerte Orgelpfeifen eine Klangeinheit mit Material aus deren erfolgreichen Projekt Sexy Ambient Hippies. Das Publikum durchschreitet eine optische und klangliche Oase, in der durch Lichtschranken auf den Treppenstufen das Publikum selbst elektronische KlÃnge und OrgelpfeifenklÃnge hervorruft. O TELEPHONE Galerie 8-Kanal-Soundinstallation von DON RITTER (Kanada, Berlin) Sechs umgearbeitete Telefone stehen auf Tischen in einem dunklen Raum, jedes zufÃllig klingelnd mit einem unterschiedlichen Klingelton. Hebt der Besucher den HÃrer ab, hÃrt er aus dem HÃrer und einem Lautsprecher im Telefon âomâ. Werden mehrere Telefone gleichzeitig abgehoben, wandern die âomâ-Sounds durch alle benutzten Telefone, 2 bis 6-kanalig. Benutzen die Besucher ein nicht klingelndes Telefon, hÃren sie ein Freizeichen. Wenn alle sechs Telefone gleichzeitig abgehoben werden, fÃllt sich der Raum mit zusÃtzlichen Sounds und taucht die Besucher in einen komplexen 6-Kanal-Surround-Sound. www.aesthetic-machinery.com 12.04.2007 21 Uhr TRIOSK (Australien) vs. groupshow ( groupshow Jan Jelinek Elektronik Andrew Pekler Gitarre Hanno Leichtmann Drums TRIOSK Laurence Pike Schlagzeug Adrian Klumpes Piano, Keyboards Ben Waples Kontrabass, Electric Bass groupshow ist ein Trio bestehend aus Jan Jelinek, Hanno Leichtmann & Andrew Pekler. Obwohl die Instrumentenaufteilung der Mitglieder noch endgÃltig beschlossen werden muss, benutzt Jan Jelinek tendenziell Rechner, EffektgerÃt und Mischpult. Hanno Leichtmann schlÃgt dagegen oft auf Trommeln, Becken und synthetischen Drum-Pads. Gleichzeitig dreht Andrew Pekler gelegentlich an den KnÃpfen und Reglern seiner GitarreneffektgerÃte. Der resultierende groupshow-Sound kann als Prozess des Oszillierens zwischen den Polen Stille und GerÃusch beschrieben werden. Das Ganze wird durch regelmÃÃige AusbrÃche von Musik unterbrochen. In Sydney berufen sich die drei Musiker von TRIOSK auf Bill Evans und sind ausgezogen, dem Jazz neue Noten zu verpassen. Laurence Pike, Adrian Klumpes und Ben Waples verbinden in ihren Kompositionen und Improvisationen den Klang des Piano-Trios groÃartig mit Minimalismus und elektronischer Musik. Auf ihrer zweiten LP ÂThe Headlight Serenade haben sie StÃcke konstruiert, die von den Drums bestimmt sind. Sie werden mal jazzig gewischt, zappeln ungestÃm wie Broken Beats oder heben auch mal ab zu Soloeinlagen. Mit Elektronik, Bass, Klavier und Synthesizer stecken sie einen sehr rÃumlichen, atmosphÃrischen Sound ab, der an Cinematic Orchestra gemahnt, dÃster wie lebhaft sein kann und gemÃà Pike eine Musik der Stimmungen, Blickrichtungen und Momentaufnahmen sein soll. Triosk erforscht LÃcken zwischen elektronischer Musik und akustische Improvisation. Zu hÃren sind Kompositionen aus dem neuen Album âThe Headlight Serenadeâ sowie Improvisationen. Mit freundlicher UnterstÃtzung von Australia Government und Australia Council. www.triosk.com www.static-music.de www.janjelinek.com Eintritt 10,- â 13.04.2007 21 Uhr GANELIN TRIO PRIORITY Vyacheslav Ganelin ( Petras Vysniauskas (Litauen) â Soprano Saxophone, Klaus Kugel (Deutschland)- Drums, Percussion Nachdem Vyacheslav Ganelin mit seinem legendÃrem Trio (mit Vladimir Chekasin und Vladimir Tarasov) in den 80ern regelmÃssig durch Europa tourte und ganz Europa aufhorchte â zog er sich nach seinem Umzug nach Israel fast komplett zurÃck. Fortan war er nur noch sporadisch live zu erleben, aktuelle Aufnahmen gab es schon garnicht... Ende der 90er kam es zur GrÃndung das GANELIN TRIO PRIORITY, gemeinsam mit dem litauischen Saxophonspieler und Chekasin-SchÃler Petras Vysniauskas und dem deustchen Schlagzeuger Klaus Kugel war Ganelin fortan wieder hÃufiger live zuerleben. Nachdem im letzten Jahr das israelische Auris Label gleich drei CDâs mit Ganelin herausgab, steht jetzt eine DVD mit dem Mitschnitt eines Konzertes in Vilnius auf dem deutschen Label Nemu Records an, ausreichend Anlass fÃr das Trio, â endlich wieder, mÃchte man sagen â auf eine grÃssere Europa-Tour zu gehen... â...Ganelin als Meisterarchitekt konstruiert aus eklektischen und multistilistischen Themen, abstrakten Ideen, Geschichten und Minidramen ein einiges Gebilde und lÃsst es klingen wie eine Symphonie, ein Orchester, ein Filmereignis, mal chaotisch, mal aggressiv fordernd, dann sogar mit einem kinderliedÃhnlichen Thema spielend. All diese Dinge geschehen mitunter innerhalb weniger Sekunden, bevor sie mit spannungsgeladenen Passagen gewÃrzt oder provokant besÃnftigenden Momenten ausgebremst werden, um in einem strudelnden Ausbruch zu gipfeln. Es gibt hier enorm viele fesselnde musikalische Erscheinungen, welche moderne zeitgenÃssische Musik, osteuropÃische Folklore und Film Noir Soundtracks widerspiegeln. Hip-O-Phon, O-Telephone opening dates: The exhibition opens on the Sundays
April 15., 22. and 29. 2-6 PM and on the days of performances one hour before
the beginning:Â âTanz in Sicht â a photo series and sound
installationâ Hall by Ingo Kniest The life-sized prints were to be presented in a room
equipped with a network of sensors which track the movements of visitors, and
according to their behaviour, trigger pre-programmed audio loops. Specially
developed software acts as a conductor to the sensory information,
turning the room into a living soundscape. Observers of Kniest's shock-frozen
portraits become the directors of new repetitive beats. Relationships here
are reversed. The ecstatic dancers are captured utterly still; the

and Klaus Wagner with music by the 17 Hippies A long ignored and almost forgotten wooden stairwell
in the Ballhaus NaunynstraÃe will be filled with a sound installation
by the 17 Hippies. Organ pipes up to 10 meters in length will create
sound with material from their successful project Sexy Ambient Hippies. Visitors
will traverse an optic and sonic oasis. O TELEPHONE Galerie 8 Channel Sound Installation von Don Ritter (Kanada, Berlin) 6 modified dial telephones are placed on tables in a
darkened room, each randomly ringing with a distinctive sound. When a
phone is picked up by a viewer, âomâ is heard through the handset
and through the speaker in the body of the phone. When additional phones are picked
up, the resulting âomâ sounds will pan through all active phones, producing
2,3,4,5, or 6 channel panning. When a viewer picks up a phone when it is not
ringing, dial tone is presented. When all 6 phones are picked up
simultaneously, additional sounds fill the room and complex 6 channel pannings surround

Guitar Hanno Leichtmann Drums Australian group Triosk return to Ballhaus as part of their tour of Japan/Europe/UK. Formed
in 2001, Triosk has established itself internationally with a unique
sound that seamlessly combines jazz, electronic and experimental music,
redefining the blueprint of the piano-bass-drums trio. Triosk will be
performing tracks from their acclaimed third album 'The Headlight Serenade' (Leaf)
as well as brand new unheard material. "Plugging in to your subconscious, every track
fills the spaces in your mind with a riot of vivid colours... Every track is
compelling and haunting." - Stuart Nicholson, The Observer, groupshow is a trio consisting of Jan Jelinek, Hanno
Leichtmann & Andrew Pekler. Although instrumental roles have yet to be
finalized, Jan Jelinek tends to use a computer, effects boxes and a mixer to
make sounds while Hanno Leichtmann frequently hits drums, cymbals and
synthetic drum pads. At the same time, Andrew Pekler is often seen adjusting
the settings of his guitar effects pedals. The resulting Groupshow sound
can be described as a process of oscillation between the two poles of
silence and noise, punctuated by periodic bursts of actual music. The
individual pieces of music are usually constructed by using various
combinations of the following three strategies: (a). starting quietly (b). becoming
louder (c). becoming softer. Further strategies are currently in the

Petras Vysniauskas Soprano Saxophone Klaus Kugel Drums, Percussion Just before politics in the pianst disappeared in the ubiquitous free enterprise left little space for
dreams. After the era of great visions no one needed the sweeping formats of
a Vyatcheslav Ganelin any more. In life, just like in any of his
improvisations, the pianist was sensitive enough to know exactly when to end an
artistic statement. With saxophonist Petras Vysniauskas, the second
central figure in Lithuanian jazz, and German drummer Klaus Kugel there now exists
a new Ganelin Trio. Is nostalgia part of the game here? Why not? It would be
a criminal misjudgement of the Baltic soul not to be willing to
perceive the sediments of nostalgia in all of its statements. But now, as
then, the timeless nature of GanelinÂs music is characterized by being able to
transform an insatiable longing into productive power. Ganelin, Vysniauskas
and Kugel are more than just plain avant-gardists that break up all
connections behind them just to pay tribute to some future aesthetic. They make use of
the method of American jazz in order to listen deeply into the
European musical tradition. That way, they shed light on great gestures of baroque
music, they internalize the painful individualism of Romanticism
and recapitulate the careless lightness of traditional folk music. It is no
less than trans- European, inter-traditional and multi-sensual
improvised music. â...Ganelin is a master architect who can
combine eclectic and poly- stylistic themes, abstract ideas, stories and
mini-dramas into a unified statement, and than let it sound symphonic,
orchestral, cinematic, chaotic and aggressiveâeven toying with a child-like
song theme. All this in a matter of seconds, before spicing it up with
tension-filled passages or provocative soothing moments before climaxing in
maelstrom-like eruptions. There are so many arresting musical occurrences that
reference modern contemporary music, East-European folk music and Film
Noir soundtracks. Still, Ganelin's ironic and quite often humoristic use
of the synthesizer and small objects and percussion disarms the music
from any pomposity or Post-Modern pastiche clichÃs. The affinity between the
players is especially amazing, considering the all-improvised nature of this
music, and when all three lock in, the music becomes
