Espannol: Gabi Hadl envia la siguiente informacion sobre la conferencia 
y taller sobre Nuevos Medios y Transformacion Social a celebrarse el 3-4

y 16-17 de diciembre del 2005 en Hong Kong. Esta conferencia, dice Gabi,

puede ser muy interesante para quienes van a Asia en diciembre a la 
conferencia de OURMedia/NuestrosMedios. La conferencia ofrecera 
traduccion del ingles al cantones y al putonghua, pero 
desafortunadamente nada al espannol.

Los organizadores esperan que a esta conferencia asistan muchas de las 
organizaciones y activistas que estan comenzando a utilizar medios 
independientes en Hong Kong, especialmente para apoyar la resistencia en

contra de la Organizacion Mundial del Comercio (y todo lo relacionado 
con tratados de libre comercio). Ademas, muchos educadores de esta 
region tambien estan comenzando a ver el potencial de estos medios en 
procesos de pedagogia critica y educacion ciudadana. (Abajo va la

Introduction



December 2005 will be a month for both governmental and non-governmental

gathering in Hong Kong. We expect many independent media will gather in 
Hong Kong to report on the WTO ministerial meeting, as well as the 
anti-WTO NGO forum and demonstration. Independent media in Hong Kong has

started to flourish in the past few years, after the July 1 
demonstration in year 2002; educators also start to explore new media as

a mean for civic education or critical pedagogy. We would like to seize 
this international occasion to organize a series of discussion for 
independent media groups from all over the world to share their 
experience in
