Re: <nettime> destroyer of worlds


Oppenheimer had the luxury of knowing or at least expecting that although death was going to come for many and perhaps most, there would be someone or something left to remember them

The chances are that even the descendants of Martian billionaires would be incapable of deciphering the last remaining evidence that humans once existed - the Golden Discs aboard the Voyager spacecraft.

it's even less likely aliens exist (if we screw up the only known experiment in the universe involving life, why risk trying it again elsewhere?), have senses like ours, find the discs and somehow invent a player.

our tragedy is that, after the Anthropocene extinctions, there will be no immortality.

Indeed, time at first heals all wounds, then consumes everything, even
traces of the anthropocene shall one day be no more. Death is inevitable
with time.
